🎉 Production Release
Several major improvements to the data hub have been added since the January beta release:
- Versioning. Users can save resource collections as drafts before publishing and create additional revisions of a published collection if they wish to make changes to the underlying resources. Each of these versions can be assigned its own digital object identifier (DOI).
- Reporting. Administrators can view sitewide activity, such as the total number of downloads and the resource collections receiving the most downloads, from the admin panel.
- Email Updates. Users are now able to update their email address in the system by confirming their password and then completing an email verification step.
- Navigation. Resource collection pages now have breadcrumbs to help users quickly access other versions of a collection as well as other collections by the same author.
- Other Species. An "Other Species" option was added to the species dropdown field in the field study resource form. When selected, it allows the user to manually enter the name of a species in an adjacent text field.
- Guest Permissions. Anonymous guests can now view resource collections. However, they still must sign up for an account to download files.
- Creating Collections. Resource collections can now be created and initialized in one click. After the user clicks on the "Create" button in the navigation bar, the data hub automatically redirects them to a page where they can edit the collection's title, description, collaborators, and resources as a draft. Previously, users were required to fill out and submit a form for collection metadata before they could start adding resources.
- Search Results. Unpublished resource collections no longer appear in the search results.
